Training Course on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy towards Sustainability for School Principals/Directors and Teachers of SEAMEO Member Countries
A. Background
To realize sustainable development, Thailand has changed the path of cultivating sufficiency mindset and behaviour in its education system since 2008. The SEP has been integrated into basic education curriculum to ensure that learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles. Effective sustainable education happens in schools that provide enable and supportive environment for sufficiency-based sustainability learning. With various innovative learning activities and pedagogies, teachers play vital roles in leading and facilitating sustainability education. More importantly, school administration is also a key factor to promote sustainable lifestyles via policy and planning, financial management, human resources, community involvement and effective networking.
In this regard, SEAMEO Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability (SEAMEO SEPS) aims to conduct a Training Course on “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy towards Sustainability for School Principals/Directors and Teachers of SEAMEO Member Countries (SEP4School). This is the first initiative of SEAMEO SEPS to share with Member Countries how Thailand has been implementing SEP in education for sustainable development. The Centre expects that this would generate applicable learning models to promote the program of sustainable development in SEAMEO Member Countries. Together, we can achieve the SDGs in the coming years.
