SEAMEO SEPS Kicks Off the First Phase of SEP4School (6 September 2023)


The first phase of the Training Course on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy towards Sustainability (SEP4School) kicked off on 6 September 2023 with the 4-day online training component. There were 62 participants from 7 countries: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. SEAMEO SEPS, as the centre of excellence on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), aims to foster collaboration among the SEAMEO Member Countries through capacity building; and to create a network for sharing knowledge and best practices for school management and teaching approaches in line with sustainable development. The SEAMEO SEPS Centre Director, Duriya Amatavivat, delivered the opening remarks. She then welcomed Dr. Priyanut Dharmapiya, Senior Advisor of National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), to give a talk on the topic “Fundamentals of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP)” which familiarised participants with the basic concept of SEP and demonstrated how it relates to the SDGs. During the session, Dr. Priyanut explained and gave clear examples of each of the three core pillars comprising: moderation, reasonableness, and prudence. She also showcased existing practices in Thai schools that highlighted the SEP Mindset as a framework for achieving sustainability.
