SEP-SDGs in Action: Virtual Learning Series on Equity and Inclusion

On 15 November 2023, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability (SEAMEO SEPS), in collaboration with SEAMEO Regional Centre for Special Educational Needs (SEAMEO SEN), concluded the 2023 season of SEP-SDGs in Action: Virtual Learning Series with a fourth webinar on the topic, “Equity and Inclusion”.


This two-hour webinar generated a great deal of interest with 377 participants joining the live session. The four distinguished speakers, namely: Ms. Catherine Wilczek, Programme Officer, UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok; Dr. Kanit Pamanee, Academic Officer, Special Education Bureau, Ministry of Education; Dr. Dhruv Patel, CEO and Founder, Nisai Group, UK; and Assoc Prof Dr. Low Hui Min, School of Education Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia and winner of the Special Education Innovation Award (SEIA); presented a very clear picture of how coordinated efforts connect policy and practice on equity and inclusion. The first part of the webinar highlighted the importance of equity and inclusion in achieving the SDGs and identified the key issues and challenges. The second part focused on practical strategies, initiatives and suggestions to leverage equitable and inclusive education.


Ms. Duriya Amatavivat, Centre Director of SEAMEO SEPS, welcomed participants to the webinar, which was broadcast live on SEAMEO SEPS’s YouTube channel on 15 November 2023. The webinar had received 1,707 views as of 16 Nov 2023.
